The Benefits of Yoga Outweighs the Risks

Yoga is said to have more of a holistic experience when compared to other exercise regimens. However, it is no different than any other exercise program in one respect, which is, if the techniques are not performed properly then you can hurt yourself. It is best to start the program with an instructor so they can make sure each exercise is done the proper way.

Yoga benefits if done correctly:

A big mood lifter. Yogic exercises for breathing and stretching helps in rejuvenating the body as well as the mind. Without doubt, yoga is one of the best exercises for clearing the mind and uplifting the mood. Additionally, if you have problems sleeping, are dealing with depression, or even have anxiety then yoga can help.
Relieve stress. Stress is able to be calmed down by relaxing your mind and concentrating on different items.
Tame high blood pressure and heart rate. Yoga is an exercise that relaxes the whole body. This helps to reduce high blood pressure and in some cases the medication may no longer be needed. You will have to learn yogic breathing along with biofeedback first though.
Increase lung capacity. The process of breathing in and breathing out rhythmically creates a certain exercise pattern for the lungs. The lungs are one of the most vital organs of our body and yoga's pattern of breathing in and out while doing the asanas helps in maximizing lung's performance.
Back Pain Reliever. It does not take a lot to pull a muscle in the back. This can be painful and is one reason for seeking the proper medical attention. Back pain can be prevented and cured in some cases by using yoga for enhancing flexibility and strength within the muscles. Back problems can also be caused if you are under a lot of stress. Stress will cause the muscles in the back to become tense.
Increases overall body strength. Flexibility, body strength, along with physical fitness is improved: The body goes through a natural process over the years that cause you to age. When yoga is done properly the exercises can actually slow the aging process down. Cell deterioration is reduced when the body is kept lubricated, clean, and flexible.
Chemicals in the blood and brain experience a positive impact. Yoga is able to create a balance between the endocrine and nervous system. When these are in proper balance then everything else in the body follows. This has been proven by medical scientists. Yoga will give you peace mentally, shaper concentration, and your relationships will experience harmony.

Yoga has some Risks and Side Effects

If you are a healthy person doing yoga on a regular basis then there will be very few side effects.
Yoga exercises tend to involve requiring you to do inverted poses. If you have the following medical conditions then check with your doctor before starting the program. If your osteoporosis is severe, blood pressure is really high or too low, detachment of the retinal, arteries are atherosclerotic or fragile, problems with your ears, blood clots are at risk of forming, or if your spine has a disc disease.
If you are pregnant it is best to exercise with an instructor at all times. Some exercises may cause a problem as your pregnancy progresses farther along.
